Travel & Food

Greetings!

Just yesterday, a friend and I went around Los Angeles in hunt for great Vegan food. It was amazing. By far my favorite spot that we ate at was Wild Living Foods in Downtown Los Angeles. My friend had collaborated with the owners, so he was kind enough to take me there and meet them! I was instantly blown away by the amazing artwork on the walls as well as food. This is a Native owned Raw Vegan restaurant.
As you walk up to the restaurant, you are greeted by huge windows giving the place a fresh and modern look. You walk in and are instantly greeted by smiles and a fresh aroma of beautiful plants. There is a bar to sit at or many standard tables to sit at. They also sell fresh juices and salad/wraps to take with you if you are on the go!
We were able to try a brand spankin new raw Vegan taco that was out of this world. Every part of this taco was incredible to eat and look at. To start with the shell, this blew me away. A mixture of flax and other grains that were pressed into a traditional taco tortilla and dehydrated for a few days. This gave the most perfect ancient tasty texture to this taco, which gave a great crunch. Upon looking at the shell, I had assumed that the shell would fall apart but to my surprise, it was sturdy and no leaks! The filling of the taco was a mixture of quinoa and nuts that gave off a savory but sweet taste. On top, you had a drizzle of what seemed to be a sweet but subtle Vegan "Mayo" and a very mild chile sauce. Of course, you do get a nice amount of garnish in the taco as well.
Overall, I give this place a 10 out of 10. The staff is warming and helpful and the food is killer to say the least. Your health is wealth and they really want to help create a healthy place/space to hangout and have a great meal!

Greetings!

Yesterday, my friend and I set out on a journey to try as many Vegan restaurants in Los Angeles as we could in one day. I ended up getting a little lost to meet up with K but we finally connected. I have been putting Chicas Tacos at the top of my list and finally, we made that dream come true last night.
Right off the bat, we were intrigued by the cute retro decor from just the outside. Inside, there is a farm like retro feel with pastel colors and cute quotes on the walls. The staff was extremely friendly! But maybe because we were the only one's in there 1 hour before closing. ha ha.
We had just ate tacos earlier, so we opted for the Watermelon Cinnamon Agua Fresca to make our night memorable. This is the best one that I've had yet! Besides being sweet and having that classic Watermelon taste, the Cinnamon added some kick to it and gave just a tiny bit of spice! Next time, I will be sure to try the tacos and sides! Stay tuned.

Greetings!
Sage Bistro is off the chain. SO GOOD. Maybe I say that because K and I went there to have a nice warm brownie :) I'm definitely not embarrassed by any means. Life is just great, especially when you have a big ol' brownie in your face. And it's Vegan, so crazy! Anyways, this is right off of Sunset Blvd. I had never been to Echo Park before but I ended up really liking the vibes. Sage is right on a corner and has a lot of charm both outside and inside. One thing I look for when I go someone where new is to be greeted, first thing, hands down. We walked in and there was the young receptionist greeting us as we walked in. That's always a great feeling.
We didn't have to wait at all to be seated. The decor is "Farm Modern" as I like to call it. This was the initial theme with the tables and brick walls. Apparently, they had expanded the next room at this location into a bar. I thought that was pretty cool. It definitely has a great feel and vibe which would be just perfect for a bar. I will have to go back to grab myself a ginger ale or something haha
Now, time for that brownie! The time finally came to order the brownie. It took not much time at all to have it warmed and back at our table. If you ever go on a date, this brownie will with out a doubt feed both of you. I wasn't there at night but I feel like this would also be a very romantic setting for a date too, just putting that out there! The brownie! Oh yeah, so, it was plenty warm and we dug right in. It was chocolatey but not too chocolatey if that makes any sense. With drizzles of chocolate, this brownie is a chocolate lovers dream. My mom would gladly eat this whole thing. Mom approved. Overall, great place to be.

Back at it again, trying new places to eat at while in the Los Angeles area. Boy, did I pick a winner this time around. Masa of Echo Park in off of Sunset Blvd right down the street from the park itself. The moment I had walked into the restaurant, I couldn't ignore that smell of freshly baked bread and tomatoes. I knew that I really wanted to try the Vegan Deep Dish pizza, and that is what I did. They had told me right off of the bat that it was going to take 45 minutes to make. At first, I was a little bummed to hear that but that first bite when it came out made everything okay.
A hot and fresh pizza pie all for me! I had gotten the small, which was the 10 inch. If you are one person, this is just perfect or even for two people. For myself, I was able to take more than half of that pizza home for left overs and I still have some 2 days later. A fun fact about this place is that it was originally an old Ford Dealership then a few different restaurants before Masa. I would highly recommend this place to any Vegan pizza lover!
